Re: Capital Improvements Project Update
Cabins
At present we have four of the new cabins fully operational and we have already received rental income from them. The first tenants expressed satisfaction with the accommodations. The paving on the west side of the project is completed as are all the sidewalks into the seven cabins. We anticipate at least three additional cabins will be up and running prior to June 1.Three additional cabins are under roof, the floor slab for a fourth is poured and the final slab is due to be poured the week of the 26th. It is anticipated that all twelve cabins will be in full operation by June 30.
Maintenance Building
The building is now completely enclosed and “lockable”. Overhead doors were installed in the last two weeks. Lean-to storage areas attached to the building are complete except for some electrical work in the overhangs. Interior work will proceed as soon as manpower can be freed from other projects.
Slabs for the material storage bins and the fuel pumps should be completed the week of May 26. Also it is anticipated that utilities will be installed during that same week. Naturally, all exterior work for maintenance and cabins is weather dependant.Bids are now being taken for demolition work at the old maintenance site.
Membrane Plant
We have received word that our permit application has been approved and we should receive the documentation shortly. This will begin the required 30 day public comment period. Assuming no problems with that we can then begin final design and proceed to the construction phase.
Also, as of this date (5/15/08) word has been received that Senator Lamar Alexander is sending a letter supporting our request for funding from the USDA. While this does not guarantee any funding it certainly will have some impact.
Respectfully submitted,
Capital Improvement Committee
